In freshers week I was doing the usual thing of picking up all the freebies at the stalls like a true scavenging student, when I was caught off guard by a leaflet to the face so fast I had no chance to revert to my usual tactic of lying and saying I'd already got one. So I thought I'd at least give it a read and I saw it was an opportunity to raise £3000 for charity by trekking to Machu Picchu. It's a 6 day trek up to a height of 4700m, with a climb of nearly 2000m, so should be a bit of a challenge! Although it seemed like something for a far more respectable student than I am, at the same time I realised this would be by far the best thing I'd ever done. So before I could revert back to my general lack of purpose I got myself signed up!

I decided to kickstart this by completely shaving my beloved hair off, aiming for £300, and a bonus addition of the eyebrows if I raise £600, mainly because I read somewhere eyebrows take up to 4 months grow back! What a travesty.

This money will be going towards Hope For Children, an international charity which does a multitude of amazing things, including providing education for children in poverty, helping those with life threatening illnesses, and making sure families have enough money to afford for their children to go to school instead of being sent off to work unimaginable hours for next to no money.
