Why am I raising money for Spinal Research....

I have a family member and friends who are living with the life changing consequences of spinal injury.  Hopefully, through the work of Spinal Research an effective treatment can be found to reduce, minimise, help alleviate or even cure the symptoms of paralysis.

How I got into this challenge....

Since 2006 my friend and Live The Adventure Director Anthony Eddies-Davies has been visiting the Kingdom of Bhutan. After spending over 50% of his lifetime exploring and working in Nepal, his first visit into this remote Kingdom was as part of a team who were invited to explore the country using its rivers systems, with unrestricted access to places unseen by western eyes.

Growing up together, myself and Anthony have been friends since childhood and he offered me a chance this year to visit the Himalayas and represent Live the Adventure by competing in the ‘ Tour of the Dragon’ Race, www.tourofthedragon.com on the 6th September with Anthony filming the event.

The race covers 268km, goes over 4 Himalayan passes with a maximum altitude of 3340m with over 27000ft of ascent in the process. Only one third of starting participants generally make it to the finish. The fastest time to complete the race was set by a local Bhutanese rider in around 11.5 hours, I expect to be in the saddle for much longer if I make it to the finish!

To motivate myself to keep going, I have set up this just giving page with the aim of raising money for Spinal Research - a concern close to my heart when my mother was left partially paralysed from the waist down as a rare side effect of shingles.

If you would like to sponsor me I would be over the moon!!
