We fund care, campaigning and research to achieve a world free from MND

Story

Rescheduled date was originally 11/04/2020 postponed due to Covid Pandemic, now good to go 12/09/20 with all measures in place for a safe social distance walk.

Inspired by Rob Burrow Doddie Weir and the late Mike Gregory we feel it is time to do our bit to help those with MND and their families, We are a group of Salford Rugby league fans  who will be walking from  our home ground The AJ Bell Stadium in Salford to The Halliwell Jones Stadium Warrington on Saturday 12th September A distance of just over 14 miles. Our aim is to walk in hope and honour of people who’s lives have been affected by MND and their families and to remember those no longer with us.  I also have a seperate page for St Ann’s Hospice as we are raising funds for them in honour of family members who have passed after having cancer two very worthy causes.

Lisa & Suzanne lost their Dad, Roy to MND in 2004 and are doing the walk alongside their fellow fans. Roy was a lifelong supporter of Salford and took his girls to The Willows before they could walk. His love of Rugby league lives on through his four grandsons who play for their local amateur club. Whenever they score a try, "that was for Grandad", is the message, and that message will carry on through the upcoming walk and all other fund raising events, as it truely is, for GRANDAD! If only he could of been with us on that night at Wigan in the final eliminator, got to witness his beloved Salford in a Grand Final, he was with us in spirit of that we are sure. Cures and preventions need research and research costs money. We would love to see a cure in our lifetime to ensure no other family has to endure the suffering and pain of losing a loved one through this incurable disease as we have.
