Woodcraft Folk is the Co-operative children and young people's movement. We run hundreds of grassroots education groups across the UK where young people of all ages meet to play games, make friends and learn about big ideas from climate change to social justice through co-operative activities.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Woodcraft Folk started 93 years ago as a spin off from the Scout movement, by people who didn't like the military and religious aspects of the Scouts. The idea was to get kids out of the slums and camping in the countryside where they could learn new skills, have fun and benefit from working co-operatively.

Woodcraft Folk Hornsey District has been following those same principles for 26 years. Hundreds of children have enjoying the groups' weekly activities and gone on the camps where they've found learning how to peel a potato and wash a dirty saucepan is as important as whittling a spoon or playing capture the flag. If we all do our bit it's a happy camp, if we don't it's miserable, like life.

Your money will go towards new tents, which will replace the 26-year-old Vangos we keep repairing. It will also help us reach more kids who would benefit from being in Woodcraft. There are no phones or gadgets allowed on our weekly group nights or camps, giving kids a break from screen time to encourage them to play and use their imaginations.
