We help the hospital offer a better future to seriously ill children across the UK

Story

Back in June 2014 Jacob was diagnosed with an ear infection, after his conditioned worsened we headed to our local Urgent Care Centre.  From there we were referred to Watford General Hospital where they confirmed the bacterial infection had moved to his hip, known as Septic Arthritic Hip.  We were immediately rushed in an ambulance to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where the next day Jacob had emergency surgery to drain off the fluid from his hip.  Jacob remained in hospital at GOSH for eight nights, where the team of orthopaedic surgeons tried to find the right antibiotics to rid the bacterial infection. It took about five days to find the right antibiotic, but finally Jacob started to improve and we could see our little boy slowly returning to normal.  He had another operation to fit a peg line, that allowed us to return home, where for four weeks the team of Community Nurses visited everyday to administer the antibiotics intravenously.  Another two weeks of oral antibiotics until the horrible experience was finally over.  Last Summer Jacob was official discharged from GOSH.

We will be forever grateful to the staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital, if left untreated Septic Arthritic Hip can be life threatening. Please help me raise funds to support the great work that GOSH do, transforming the health and wellbeing of children and young people, giving them the best chance to fulfil their potential.
