Climbing Mount Toubkal · 7 May 2019

Hi, we're Gaddum: a mental health and carers charity. We've been around since 1833 supporting people and communities throughout Greater Manchester.

Story

The Challenge

To climb Mount Toubkal. At 4,167m, it is  the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains in southwestern Morocco, North Africa.

About me

Welcome to my page. I have set myself the challenge of climbing Mount Toubkal. I decided to do this challenge for many reasons. Just over 7 years ago I suffered from a condition PGP (pelvic girdle pain) which was cause by my pregnancy and I was using crutches for seven months, I was under physio for 18 months. I wanted to fight my condition and set myself goals to improve my physical and mental health. One of my goals was to raise money by doing different challenges for charities. I wanted to do this in memory of my sisters Louise and Sarah. Louise sadly died at the age of 16 yrs from Leukaemia . Sarah who sadly died from bronchopneumonia at 4 months old.

To help combat my mental health and physical limitations I stated running and climbing mountains . My biggest achievements have included running an ultra , London marathon twice and Manchester Marathon. I also done a triathlon where I had to learn to swim and ride a bike . Which is pretty tough as an adult I also climbed the three highest mountains in the uk. Ben Nevis, Snowdon and scarfell Pike. I also completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge.
