Story
As many of you now know, Faye and Emily's Dad, Eileen's brother and Jane's brother in law, Michael McCotter, was recently sadly and shockingly diagnosed with terminal bowel/colon/liver cancer.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we have to announce that Michael passed away at 9.30am on Wednesday 4th July at Myton Hospice Coventry, peacefully, painlessly and surrounded by his beloved family, where he wanted to be. Myton is such a lovely place, the staff could not have more supportive, Michael was in very good hands there and so well cared for. Jackie, Faye, Emily and the family would like to thank all of our friends and family for their unstinting support during this challenging time, Michael was humbled and overwhelmed by it, that was the bloke he was. The first donor on this site summed it up perfectly ‘top bloke you are Mick’ Jackie has been immense, a tower of strength throughout, she couldn’t have done more for Mick, she cared for him with the greatest tenderness, they had the happiest of marriages, he will be forever in our hearts
Mick was absolutely the best bloke you could ever wish to meet, a loving family man, always keen to help everyone and who never did any harm to anyone. In loving support of Jackie and Mick, and to raise much needed funds for the fantastic Myton Hospices, we are abseiling down the iconic Coventry Cathedral on Saturday 13th October 2018!
We are delighted to be joined by wonderful friends and 2 cousins, Karen Blackwood, Mark Lodge, Eileen McCotter, Hayden Sarjeant, Matt Owen, Kenna Diston and Kaye Smith for the Abseil, thanks guys!! Me, Annabel Webb and Kerri Watkins are also doing the Myton Hospices Virtual 100 Race for this cause. Plus Jane, Jackie, Mary, Eileen, Pam, Sarah, Scarlet, Becky, Kerri, Mel, Nicky and Kenna are all doing the Glow in the Moonlight Walk!
We have supported Myton Hospices for many years, indeed Val Owen has worked as a volunteer in the Ball Hill shop for over 20 years! Mick expressed a wish to spend his final days at Myton so raising this money is extra special and personal to all of us. It is such a lovely peaceful place, the staff were so welcoming, he was in very good hands and was so tenderly cared for here, they looked after Jackie and the family too. If everyone who is participating raises at least £200 in sponsorship money, this would mean a total of £35,000, enough to fund recruitment, training and salary of a nurse for one year, still not enough but it would be a great contribution!
Thank you in advance of your support, xx #doingitformick
