Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year we should be running our 6th David's Run in memory of my son David who died in 2015, aged 17yrs. This year, due to the pandemic, I thought we could do something slightly different, a virtual run/walk where we think of David, and others dear to us we have lost.
So many of you already know David's story and have embraced it and supported me over the years. He had an emergency liver transplant in 2012 following acute liver failure. During his recovery, we found Sheringham parkrun and David and I used this to regain fitness. David then went on to compete in a triathlon, play football, as well as at the British Transplant Games and I continued to participate in the parkrun, helping behind the scenes. Tragically David was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer in 2015 and died within weeks of this diagnosis on 11th March.
In 2014, Make-A-Wish granted David his wish. They sent us all to Lisbon to watch the Champions League Final, Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid. It was the most amazing event. At the time David was very well and we were almost embarrassed to be given the wish but now I look back on those times and feel blessed to have such wonderful memories.
The charity grant wishes for children with life challenging conditions and I know how much it means to the children and their families. The smile of a child fills our hearts.
Rather than encouraging you to all go out at the same time, I think a 5k run/walk over the weekend of 12-14 March 2021 would be great! Please remember to wear football shirts (David's big love!) and upload photos onto our Facebook page.
Thank you! xx
