The picture shows Jonna looking healthy and well, this is in the good period between chemotherapy sessions, we know how much it takes out of him and others suffering in the same way. Here's Jonna's story, please read it as it shows the importance of us all regularly checking things and acting if there's any changes.

After finding a lump in one of his testicles back in May 2018, Jon (or Jonna as his family and older friends know him) was given a two week referral to see a Consultant and the testicle was surgically removed in June 2018. After analysis of the biopsy, Jon was told that he had a particular type of blood cancer called high-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and not testicular cancer as first suspected.

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system and is the fifth most common cancer in the UK – more than 14,000 people are diagnosed with it each year, and more than 6,000 of these have high-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It can occur at any age, including in children, but it becomes steadily more common in people aged 50 and over.

After various scans and further tests, Jon embarked on a 6 month period of intensive intravenous and intrathecal (spinal) chemotherapy, beginning in July, to be followed by a course of radiotherapy.

We are setting up this fund raising page in Jon’s name to raise money for Bloodwise, a charity whose mission is to stop people dying from blood cancer, to make patients’ lives better and to look for ways to stop blood cancer happening in the first place.

Twelve of Jon’s former team mates from Paddox FC have arranged a sponsored charity walk from Wembley Stadium to Jon’s spiritual home of White Hart Lane and if anyone would like to sponsor them then please feel free to do so via this JustGiving page.

We hope you will be able to support this worthwhile charity.
