Event: Beyond the Ultimate Ice Ultra
We provide support to bereaved British Forces Children

Story

Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting children & young people who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.

Inspired by the experience of Army widow Nikki Scott following the death of her husband Corporal Lee Scott in Afghanistan in 2009, the charity is currently providing the much needed assistance to hundreds of bereaved Forces children and young people around the UK. However there are still over 1000 bereaved military children in the UK without support.

We are hoping the many millions of steps needed to complete this course will help with the many steps of support this service can offer to these children and their family’s.

About this event

Stage  2 -  44km (27.5 Miles)
Stage  3 - 42Km (26.2 Miles)
Stage 4 - 64Km ( 40 Miles)
Day 5 - 16Km (10 Miles)

Laying inside the Arctic Circle it’s Europe’s last remaining wilderness and the heartland of the indigenous Sámi people.  This area, Jokkmokk municipality, an area the size of Wales but with a population of only around three thousand, can experience daytime temperatures as low as -40 degrees at this time of year and the days are short.

You’re standing in snow, surrounded by seemingly endless pine forests scattered with frozen lakes.  White-capped mountains dominate the horizon.  All around you is silent and peaceful broken only by the crunch of your steps in the snow as you make your way through 230km of this UNESCO world heritage area.  As darkness descends at the end of each day you can expect to feel like the only person on the planet.
