Story

JDC CORPORATE FINANCE “ONLY THE BRAVE” 2018 CHARITY CHALLENGE SUPPORTING THE EAST ANGLIAN AIR AMBULANCE AND THE COMMUNITY HEARTBEAT TRUST

Nine members of the JDC Corporate Finance team have set themselves the challenge of completing the Only the Brave Obstacle Mud Run on 25 March 2018 at Elveden Estate.

The challenge will consist of a six mile mud run with up to 35 obstacles  and will require a combined effort of running, crawling, climbing, scrambling, struggling and panting to cross the finish line.

In addition to supporting EAAA, we have chosen to raise funds for the Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT), the UK’s leading Community Defibrillator Charity, specifically to help with a local community defibrillator project.

With your support we are aiming to purchase a community Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for the users of the Meridian Business Park and associated areas.

An AED has been described as the single most important development in the treatment of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).  These devices are now widely available and increasingly used by people, often with little or no training, to re-start the heart of a victim of an SCA and under ideal circumstances, when used very soon after collapse (within two or three minutes), many can survive.

By providing this equipment for the local community we hope to help save lives.

We really appreciate your support and thank you for any donation!

About the charity

The Community Heartbeat Trust helps communities undertake defibrillator projects taking into account the needs for the right equipment, the right support, the right adherence to liabilities and governance, community awareness and training programmes, and help with the fund raising and long term support for these projects. As the leading community defibrillator charity in the UK, we have become recognised by ambulance services, councils, community groups and sports governing bodies as the 'gold standard', having set many of the standards now being adopted by other organisations. We live, breath and are hugely passionate about community defibrillation in all its forms, and seek always to offer a holistic and objective advice to communities. We believe a defibrillator is for LIFE and not just for Christmas, and these medical devices should be available to save lives. But they are just that, a medical device, and must be treated with respect. A good project is not about just a defibrillator in the community, but one that forms part of a resilient process, addressing needs, and fully backed by Governance. www.communityheartbeat.org.uk
