Story
As a mother to a child with cerebral palsy and autism I know how difficult life is with a disability in this country, so I can't imagine what it
must be like for a child living in one of the world’s poorest places. I feel privileged to work for CBM UK and to watch my amazing colleagues fund and implement programmes that transform lives. It is a unique opportunity for my own fundraising to unlock funds from the UK Government to break the cycle of poverty and disability and promote
independence, equality, choice and control.
That’s why I am taking part in the Cambridge half marathon to raise
money for CBM’s See the Way campaign– helping people with sight problems in the world’s poorest places.
Give today and, until 12th May 2020, every £1 you donate will be DOUBLED by the UK government.
That means that every gift will have twice the impact to help people See the Way to a brighter future. You will help fund sight-restoring cataract surgery, treatment for blinding conditions like glaucoma, even a simple pair of glasses which can transform the life of someone living in poverty, enabling them to get around safely, go to school, earn a living and support their families. With your help, CBM can not only fund these
life-changing interventions, but also train health workers, equip hospitals and strengthen eye health systems, helping build communities where nobody is needlessly blind.
£24 would become £48, helping to give sight to an adult blind in both eyes.
£60 would become £120 to help train a teacher to show them how to meet the needs of children who struggle to see.
£95 would become £190 and could fund cataract surgery for a child blind in both eyes, enabling them to see.
