Story
On 10th** April 2022 I plan to undertake the “Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge” to raise money for the DEC Ukraine aid appeal. It’s 26 miles and covers the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). The challenge is to complete it within 12 hours!
I do a little hiking as a hobby but I’m by no means an expert - this will be a massive challenge for me and I’ve given myself less than a month to prepare! I wanted to undertake the challenge as quickly as possible to I can raise important funds which will go directly to where it’s needed most!
A bit about the conflict and the appeal:
Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing hundreds of thousands to flee. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.
£30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month
£50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm
£100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month
** slight change of date due to injury!
