Story
Hello. Like everyone else what a rollercoaster of a couple years. The virtual marathon last year was an epic event in itself , not just because it was my 5 th marathon in a row but I was the lady who hit the headlines being interviewed in not just Britain but worldwide. I ended up knowingly jogging but more so walking 49 miles because of faulty marathon app . I knew I was in trouble a few miles in when it just wasn't registering the miles properly, because of being by the Norfolk coast but what could I do, I didn't know who I could ring to say that it wasn't working , I didn't have the secondary device incase the main one failed , so I just carried on. It was the worst weather as well torrential rain, strong winds , I look back and just laugh so much about it , I started at before 5 in the morning and finished at 8 pm . The best thing about it was how much it had gained people's interest and I ended up getting more donations for the charity which was fantastic.
I had started to train slowly at 7 weeks away from the day but unfortunately because of personal reasons and work it hasn't been constant at all . I feel I am prepared in many ways mentally , physically I'm not where I would like to be. I have been undecided most of the year if I really wanted or had the time to compete in this year's one . But I have decided to do it for my dad because devastatingly we lost him to covid earlier on this year. It has completely rocked us and it is still incredibly raw for us all. But I know that dad loved coming up London to cheer me on at different points around the course with the rest of my family. I know he would want me to do my goal of 7 in a row and although I've never been one to do it for a time I did really want to complete it in under 5 hours but that is a definite no , It won't be the case this year but hopefully next year's one I'll smash it but for now , for this year's one it will be incredibly emotional for us all and I just want to finish it .
MS-UK have been very understanding with what I'm going through and they have given me support if I have ever needed it . I know I haven't been in touch much and fundraising has been a no go but I truly appreciate what a great charity you are and I hope along with all the other runners we raise more for your great charity.
