Story

Mid Ulster Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MACP)

Every single charity is worthy of our donations, no matter how small or large. Charities provide vital services to many, the abused, disadvantaged, those who are sick, or bereaved, or those who find themselves suffering from severe mental health difficulties. Often those who are working for these charities, do so giving up their very precious time, and on many occasions, at their own expense as well. MACP are the first local counselling charity based right here in Coalisland. We have at present 30 counsellors, all who see at least 5 clients per week, that's a weekly service providing 150 sessions of counselling. Within the last 12 months, we have provided at least 7500 sessions of counselling. Amazing!! We in MACP, cannot continue to provide this vital work without the help of our very own community. We know there are so many charities all equally worthy of your donations, but we are asking those who reside in the Mid-Ulster area, particularly Coalisland, Dungannon, Cookstown, Lough Shore areas and surrounding towns, to continue to support this essential work. To give you an idea of issues our counsellors have been working with, we have detailed 10 common presentations below. There are of course many other mental health issues also:

1. Those presenting with suicidal thoughts;
2. Those who have lost loved ones or who have been bereaved by suicide;
3. Those who self harm;
4. Clients who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD);
5. People suffering from addictions;
6. People suffering from bulimia;
7. Those presenting with anxiety, depression or both;
8. Clients suffering from severe stress;
9. People who are having severe issues with relationships, spouse, mother, father, friends or colleagues; and
10. Bereavement or issues associated with loss.

In order to raise much needed funds at this very special time of the year, we are holding a big Christmas Draw. But of course, for some, Christmas can be an extremely difficult time, bringing back painful memories, or loosing a loved one. So please, take a look below, we are raffling many amazing prizes all donated by very generous businesses in our communities.
