75 Hour Five-A-Side Football Marathon · 18 July 2019 to 21 July 2019 ·

We are aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the longest ever game of 5-a-side football. The team of 16 players will be battling blisters, cramp, sleep deprivation and more in their attempt to play solidly for 75 hours!

Story

I am taking part in the Foundation for Ribble Valley Families' attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest ever game of 5-a-side football.

We’re going to kick off our attempt for the longest ever game of 5 a side football on Thursday 18 July at 10:00am, hosted at Roefield in their sports hall. We’re aiming for 75 hours, which will take us to 14:00pm on the Sunday.

The rules are punishing – for every full hour we complete we accrue 5 minutes of rest time. There’s 16 players, with three subs on each team. The only time any player can sleep or leave the sports hall is during a designated rest break where the whole game will stop. If we want to have 30 minutes off from the game, we need to play for 6 hours solid. We can take smaller breaks and keep time in the bank for using later on.

I'm hoping to raise £500 but anything on top of this would be amazing!

The charity is the Foundation for Ribble Valley Families, and they offer mental health and emotional wellbeing support without the significant waiting periods seen in traditional support services.
