Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
From 4th to 9th July I cycled 442 miles (711km) with 46,658ft (14,221m) of climbing in under 99hrs from start to finish. To put this in perspective, this is longer than the distance from London to Glasgow and more than 1.6 times the height of Mt. Everest in just over 4 days. That is an average of 100 miles a day and around 3000m of climbing a day.
This is to raise money for YMCA East Surrey a vibrant charity that has been actively supporting their local community for over 150 years. They help people to believe in themselves, support them to achieve their goals and inspire them to be the best they can be by providing services that focus on those who are vulnerable, have a disability or face disadvantage.
It would be much appreciated if you can donate towards this fantastic charity. This event has been postponed since 2020, so the YMCA have not had the benefit of this fundraising for 2 years.
On the cycle we completed the Raid Pyrenees challenge.
In the 1950’s the Cyclo Club Béarnais were looking for a challenge, so they created a route across the Pyrenees, keeping as close to the Spanish border as possible. The challenging part is we needed to get 18 checkpoints (on mountain passes) in under 100hrs.
Taking on some of the stages from Tour de France: Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aubisque, Col du Port along with many other lesser know climbs.
