St Cuthbert’s Hospice provides specialist care to people with life-limiting illnesses, people approaching the end of life and the bereaved. We make no charge for our services, ensuring Hospice care is available to everyone. It costs over £2 million each year to keep St Cuthbert's Hospice running.

Story

Five ladies have been planning this challenge for a few months now after the success of our hubbies last year!

In March 2012 Iain lost a friend, Steve McVicar, from Newcastle University to cancer after a most courageous battle. After being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in May 2011 he began a long period of treatment from September 2011. His regular blogs posted on www.caringbridge.co.uk kept us all informed of his progress along with an insight into his unbelieveable strength and determination.

Steve leaves behind his amazing wife Lisa and incredible son Graham, who have been at Steve's side throughout and have tackled each stage of his treatment with incredible courage.

Steve spent his last few days at St Cuthbert's Hospice, where they helped the whole family cope with those heart-wrenching times. Steve himself expressed a wish that if anyone did anything for charity, that this would be a most worthy cause.

So please support me (and my lycra-clad legs) on this new challenge for me - two wheels is quite a change from two legs!

Thank you so much.

Lots of love, Jo x
