Story
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have raised over £5,000 including last year’s donations all thanks to you... (http://www.justgiving.com/JohnBoullin)
I finished in 4:21 after a pretty tough last couple of miles where I thought I was going to pass out, as finishing was always the first priority I slowed down to try and get my heart rate under control. (A big thank you to Rachel who looked after me once I was over the line, oh and the St John's Ambulance man!)

In May of 2009 my Mother lost a five year battle with cancer. Initially cared for in a general hospital in the final weeks of her life, it was clear to all concerned that they were beginning to struggle to provide Mum with the level of care required. After a couple of days waiting the family were told there was a bed available at the Princess Alice Hospice. Words cannot describe the feeling in the first few hours once we all, together as a family, arrived at the hospice. It was clear this was the very best place that Mum could be. The facilities were as such that she could enjoying seeing her grandchildren play in the garden, have her bed virtually wheeled outside for some fresh air and have one of us to spend the night at her bedside. About a week after arriving, with her family at her bedside, Mum slipped away.
It was that day I said to myself I was going to do something as challenging as I could, raising as much money as possible, as obviously people had done before me, to continue to help the Princess Alice provide their fantastic facilities for others.
I had planned to run the marathon last year but a stress fracture in my foot prevented me making the start line. This year I have listened to my body and not pounded out the miles, opting for a mix of running and x-training something I am sure I will pay for on the big day!
Please dig deep, the hospice only receives 25% of its funding from the NHS, the rest is made up from donations from people like you.
Many thanks, John
