Story
Last year, in August, my second cousin Penny lost her seven year fight against cancer. Her husband James updated her JustGiving page with this message:
"Penny passed away peacefully at home on the 6th August, aged just 31. She worked tirelessly between her diagnosis of a malignant brain tumour in 2007 and her eventual death to raise money for the National Brain Appeal, to help the hospital which did so much to help her. In the end she raised almost £400,000 & helped fund a new imaging centre, new Brain Tumour Unit (the first in the UK) as well as a dedicated research fellow position. She would absolutely have wanted any legacy to go to this remarkable charity & the teams that work so hard to improve outcomes for those afflicted with this terrible disease. "
Penny's son George was just a baby, she wrote so movingly about being a mum here > http://upallhours.com/mummy-bitch/
I rarely run for charity but was profoundly moved by Penny's story and the astonishing efforts she made as a fundraiser. To this end I would love to continue to add to her legacy by supporting the National Brain Appeal when I take on Milton Keynes Marathon in May 2015.
Just £1 is a great contribution but I'd urge you to consider donating a little more. £2.20 is a coffee, £6.50 a large glass of wine, £20 a good bottle of wine or £50 a tank of petrol. Can you donate a tank of fuel for this cause?
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
