Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

This is my fourth year of riding for charity with Carillion colleagues and friends and will probably be the most challenging. I have just had a cataract operation in my right eye and can't train for three to four weeks. Unfortunately, it is the turn of my left eye in mid-July, followed by a similar rest period. The good news is that the first op seems to have gone well and I have built up my fitness recently. I know I will get around ok because I will be riding with a great group of people who will help each other through the two days.

My reason for riding is to raise funds for Hospice UK and I have decided to dedicate the effort to John Ferminger. John and his sister Pip were our 'elderly' neighbours when we lived in Woking. They were wonderful people and became a third pair of grandparents to our children. John spent his last months in a hospice in Guildford. When visiting I was always very impressed at the hugely caring environment. In September we will be doing a little bit to help Hospice UK to continue to provide this support to others in the future.

I know that requests to give to charity fly in from every direction these days and choices have to be made. Please choose to make a donation to this great cause, whatever the size; every little helps!
