Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you will know, I have just completed the Montane Spine race, which started in Edale, Derbyshire, 13/1/19 @ 8.00AM.
A continuous event that follows the whole length of the Pennine way to its end at Kirk Yetholm in Scotland. 268 miles with around 37,000 feet of climb. Whilst the route takes you through some of our most beautiful landscapes, sadly most of it is in the dark and in very hostile weather. The wind, rain and cold is hard to comprehend, sleep deprivation, hallucinations, blisters and sore feet. I am planning a social get together for everyone where I can hopefully give you all an insight into my planning and the event. I will confirm ASAP. I completed the race in 120 hours, 46 mins. & 4 seconds, 8th place overall. Jasmin Paris won the event in around 83 hours which is an incredible and almost incomprehensible achievement. The last people to finish came in around 166 hours but still an absolutely massive effort. Approx. 74 people finished and similar number retired. During the event I had 7.5 hours sleep. This was without doubt the toughest challenge I have ever undertaken and my recovery is slow and painful but I am getting there, three days after finishing I can just about walk.
Prior to the event I didn't undertake to fundraise as I was conscious that I may not complete this challenge and didn't want to let anyone down. But as my followers online, via social media and the live tracker have asked to donate, here we are. I have chosen Pendleside Hospice as one of two beneficiaries, (the other being mountain rescue, separate page) I will leave it up to you to choose) or do a little each? Pendleside is a fantastic place caring for anyone in need & where sadly I have had to visit more than I would have liked over the last few years.
Please give anything you can, every little helps.
