In memory of John Whyte

Liver disease is now the UK’s third biggest cause of premature death - and the only major disease where death rates are rising. The good news? The science is working. Help us keep delivering breakthroughs to catch liver disease earlier, treat it better, and in many cases prevent it all together.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our dearest husband/father, John Whyte, passed away on the 16th June 2020 after the sudden onset of acute liver and kidney failure which were caused by a blood clot in his portal vein and liver disease. The staff at Stoke Mandeville Hospital who cared for him during his short stay were fantastic and we are particularly grateful to the Intensive Care nurses who treated him as if he was one of their own family members in the final few days of his life.

We would like to raise funds in his memory and have chosen to donate any money that we raise to the Liver Research Foundation. 1 in 10 people will experience problems with their liver at some point in their life and at present, treatment options are relatively limited. We hope that our small contribution will help fund research so that others in a similar situation may have a better outcome.

Many thanks,

Melanie, Amy and Ian xxx
