We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

When I was six months old, I became seriously ill and my head began to swell. The first doctor my mum saw told her I was fine, but she knew something wasn’t right and refused to leave it there.

A second doctor came to our house, told my mum to pack her bags and personally drove us to the hospital. I was diagnosed with meningitis. The hospital did everything it could, but eventually my mum was told that the rest was down to whether my body could fight it over the weekend.

I pulled through, but later developed epilepsy at around three years old. I was under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital, where I received experimental medication until I was about ten.

The hospital that treated my meningitis saved my life, and Great Ormond Street played an important part in my care throughout my childhood. I’m here today because my mum trusted her instincts, a doctor took action and hospitals were there when I needed them.

That is why I want to do something to help other children and families facing serious illness.

On 13 September 2026, I’ll be cycling 55 miles from London to Brighton to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. It will also be almost two years since I underwent major knee surgery involving five ligament replacements, so this will be a very personal challenge in more ways than one.

I’m proud to be able to donate £300 through my company, Recognise Design, and support the incredible work of Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. This is just the beginning. Any support, encouragement, donation or simply sharing this page would be genuinely appreciated.

Thank you.
