Story
Ten years ago Warren and Martyn took on the challenge of cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End.They completed 912 miles to raise £5,000 for Dementia UK thanks to fantastic support from their families and friends. Now the boys are back on the fundraising trail with another two-wheeled adventure, this time to raise cash for Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge.
This time they will be riding through the desert in the middle-eastern country of Jordan.
They plan to cover around 200km following a route from Amman in the north along the coast of the dead sea.
They then head into the historic desert landscape to visit sites including Petra, Aqaba and Wadi Rum.
The terrain and climate will offer a tough challenge but the boys will be looking capture the spirit of Lawrence of Arabia whose wartime heroics in the region became legendary.Lawrence was told only camels and Beduins could have fun in the burning fiery furnace of the desert so Warren and Martyn will have plenty of obstacles to overcome.
While the pair may not have to fight enemy soldiers they will have to tackle steep climbs and descents in rocky desert condition.
Temperatures will reach more than 30 degrees centigrade during the day and could drop below freezing at night while the lads will be sleeping in Bedouin style camps.
It promises to be a wild ride, please show your support by making a small donation to our chosen cause.
Thank you
