The Greek Catholic church has opened its convent in Sighetu-Marmatiei, located in the North of Romania, 3km from the Ukrainian border, to provide safe accommodation for Mothers, Children and Elderly people fleeing from the terrors of war. The monastery/convent is run by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Mother of God.
Up to 70 to 80 refugees arrive per day, although this number increases daily. The order is trying to provide and cover the associated living expenses for food, clothes, and medicine and still need to cover the cost of utilities such as gas, electricity, and water.
It costs around 15 euros a day to support a person, with a total cost of 1200 euros per day for 80 refugees.
We are asking for your help in raising vital funds to help with these costs, enabling the continued support in very difficult times.
