Everest Base Camp 2023 - Aston University

Everest Base Camp 2023 - Aston University · 29 August 2023 to 13 September 2023 ·
I will be flying out to Nepal on the 29th August 2023 where I will be trekking to Everest Base Camp (EBC) over 11 days for Marie Curie and in memory of my Nan. I will be joined by my brother and 5 others for this amazing cause.
My Nan sadly passed away aged 74 on 1st December 2022 following a tough fight against the terminal illness idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. It is a condition that causes scarring in the lungs making it increasingly difficult to breathe.
How: I found out about this challenge accidentally scrolling through social media and decided to register my interest. I was confused to get a call from choose a challenge for an interview, however I was thrilled to get the opportunity to become challenge leader of the EBC trek for Aston University. The role involves recruitment of a team to join me, then support the team with team building, on the challenge itself and fundraising throughout.
Unfortunately my nan was unable to spend her final days in a hospice. However, the hard work of staff and nurses at hospices, and the support that Marie Curie offers to families all over the country through terminal illness means fundraising for this cause is something I hold close to my heart. Any donation will help support the charity continue their amazing work supporting families and individuals living with terminal illness.
Marie Curie: Every day of your life matters from the first to the last. Marie Curie believe that everyone living with a terminal illness should be able to get the most from the time they have left, however hard that may sometimes feel. We'll be here for you and your family when you may feel like no-one else is, to help you cope when you don't know how. Marie Curie Nurses care for you in your home, when you need them most, day or night. Our hospices are at the heart of communities around the UK. And our trained volunteers and advisers are here for you with practical information and support when you don't know what to do next or just need to talk. We'll be by your side with care and support every step of the way, bringing light in the darkest hours.
Remember, Marie Curie will recieve 100% of any donation you make. It costs £390 to fund a hospice bed for a whole day. I believe with your help and the team I've recruited, we can fundraise enough to run a Marie Curie Hospice for several days!
