Story
I am afraid the Kili ‘bug’ has not gone away – yes, you are right, I am putting my boots on again but this time to trek the Dhaulagiri Circuit in Nepal. Not to the top of a mountain this time, instead 15 days camping, many at altitudes of over 4,000m with temperatures dropping to -15C.
Some of you will be aware that I celebrated a significant birthday earlier this year and this is my present to myself!! I know that many of you think I am mad and at times, I can only agree with you. But I have this burning desire to go out of my comfort zone and see how far I can push myself both mentally and physically. Am I fit? I guess time will tell, but mentally I am very ready – excited and a little scared!
I hadn’t intended it to be a fund raiser but so many of you have asked, that I have set up this Just Giving page to raise money once again for Tanzanear. Thanks to your generosity from my Kilimanjaro climb, we are now underway with our plans to start the Audiology Centre at Buguruni School for the Deaf and as I write, the construction of the ear mould laboratory and new room for the sound proof booth is beginning.
However, whilst this work goes on, there are many day to day requirements at the school in general and we always need general funds to support such needs. Examples would be anti malaria fumigation, audiology equipment, classroom refurbishment and general maintenance. It is for such funds that I am asking for your support this time round.
Your support is and will always be very special to me – I know I have set myself quite a challenge but knowing that I have your support and thoughts will be very comforting when the going gets tough!
As I have been heard to say before, all quite good for a woman of my age …!!!
