Hi and thanks for taking the time to visit my page!

For those of you who don't know- my sister and my niece forced me (well maybe not quite forced but that's what it felt like) into agreeing to do Bristol 10k as they have both run for charity before. However when they suggested that we could raise money for Dorothy House Hospice Care and I could get fit at the same time before I knew it (perhaps in a moment of temporary insanity) I was signing up for the race. Although I must admit just the thought of it made my body ache!

The thing is fundraising for 'Dotty house' isn't about me it's about the patients and families they support, and ensuring that they receive all the donations they can possibly get so that they can continue to provide the fantastic support and care that we as a family experienced first hand when my mum was admitted and spent the last ten days of her life there. She was treated with such dignity and with excellent care that it really was the best place she could have been in. We were basically allowed to 'move in' (it was a bit like the waltons!) for the week so that we were able to be there together with mum.  Nothing was too much trouble for the staff/volunteers and they made us all feel so welcome that's why we want to give something back.

I've been training for the race for 12 weeks now (though it feels like forever and i'm glad the end is now in sight) and have even gone out after my night shifts with no sleep to do an hour and a quarter run! Some times when training i think i really havent got the energy to run but then i think of why and what i am doing it for and that keeps me going.
