Story
In 2022, We have decided to take part in a special event which will not only test our endurance, but raise money for a cause Hayley has a very personal connection to. We’ll be joining a 5 day trek across the Sahara desert in support of our local hospice, LOROS, which cared for Hayley’s late husband. In 2018, having previously been a fit and active 56-year-old, Anthony Howlett was diagnosed with untreatable bowel cancer. Within 8 weeks Hayley and her two sons, then aged 22 and 18, went from living life as a normal family to dealing with the grief and overwhelming chaos of losing a father and a husband, with no time to prepare both practically and psychologically. One of the few beacons of light in that period was the care and support Anthony received at LOROS, where he died in November 2018. Though his time there was relatively short, not only did he receive the highest standards of palliative care, but he was treated throughout with the dignity and respect that was so often lacking during the rest of his short illness. In the weeks and months after Anthony’s death, Hayley and her sons also received excellent follow up care and support. So please help her to say thank you to LOROS for all that they did for them in their greatest time of need.
