Having been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the age of 3, life with chronic illness is my norm. That means pain, fatigue, joint problems, nausea and a whole host of other unpleasant symptoms are all part of my daily life. I know I will never run a marathon, but this month, with my lovely hubby by my side, I will complete a full marathon. Even if it takes the whole of June to do it. I will be taking part in the #MyWALKIT Challenge, raising vital funds for Crohn's & Colitis UK - a charity which has helped me so much over the years, not least by reminding me that I am not alone. There are currently around 10,000,000 people worldwide who suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Disease. In the UK, over 500,000 people are living with this incurable disease - a disease that so many people still know too little about. The fact that Crohn's falls into the category of hidden disability makes it even harder for people to understand. That's why it is so important that charities like Crohn's and Colitis UK continue working tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for ongoing research and development in treatment options, improvements in diagnoses and (one day) a cure. If you can spare a few pennies, I'd be really grateful. I may not be running my marathon, but for someone whose body is doing constant battle with itself, sometimes, even just a single step is a struggle. Thanks in advance for your support.
