Story
I can't believe a whole year has passed by since we lost Charley on the 12th June. Charley was 29 and had the most amazing spirit about her. Whenever I think of Charley, all I see is a big happy smiling face - Charley was beautiful inside and out and had a positive view to life.
After going to visit Charley at Eden Vally Hospice last year, we knew that we wanted to do something to raise money for the hospice that looked after her - we contacted the fundraising team at the end of last year and asked them what we could do and the Great North Run 2018 was mentioned! After vowing to never run a half marathon again :) :) ...In September, me and Luke and Charleys brother in-law Lee will be running 13.1 miles through Newcastles city centre in memory of the beautiful and amazing Charley xxxx
Eden Valley hospice opened its doors in October 1991 after land was donated to the cause - the first in-patient was an 11 month old baby. Over the years, the hospital has expanded to take care of more patients and in 1998 opened a childrens hospice extension. This unit proved to be extremely popular and more fundraising was needed to build a fully functional childrens in-patient unit. The local community came together to raise the money for this and in Novermber 2007 the doors opened for patients.
Currently Eden Valley has 12 beds within the adut in-patient unit, 8 single rooms with en-suites and a 4 bed room, plus the childrens unit - Jigsaw. The location offers a relaxing atmosphere for patients and family.
Eden Valley is funded 28% by the NHS and an amaxing 72% by generosity and fundraising so donations are incredibly important in order for them to continue providing the care that they do.
We are looking to raise £1000 for Eden Valley hospice to thank them for the care and support that they gave to Charley and her family and to remember the amazing spirit that Charley had and her gorgeous smiling face.
Please please sponsor us - we would love to raise as much money as we can - any donation is much appreciated!!
