Ollie's family shared the devastating news that their beautiful boy passed away on Sunday 18th July 2021.

Story

Meet Ollie. Ollie is nephew to a very good friend of mine, Ollie is cousins with one of my daughters best friends, Ollie is a very much loved son to Lucy and Gary and a huge part in the lives of all his family and friends. Ollie gives awesome high fives!

On January 9th 2019, a month before Ollie's second birthday, every parents worst nightmare came true for Lucy and Gary. Ollie was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. Ollie immediately started his 18 month course of intensive treatment which includes chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy.

High Risk Neuroblastoma is aggressive. Almost 50% of children will relapse after successful treatment. Chance of survival after relapse is less than 1 in 10.

Ollie's family is raising funds in case Ollie needs to access further treatment not available on the NHS to either keep the cancer from returning or to clear the disease if his frontline treatment is unsuccessful.

The Fundraiser. I will be tackling my ultimate triathlon challenge to date. A long-distance triathlon (you may of heard of Ironman). The distance of this swim, bike, run event is, in technical terms, A. BLOODY. LONG. WAY.! Or 3.86 km/2.4 mile swim, 180.25 km/112 mile bike, 42.20 km/26.22 mile run. That's right, a mere marathon plonked on the end and this is the part I am fearing!

I aim to do this event July 2020 to give myself time to train. MUCH training is needed! I have two amazing kiddies myself (hence why Ollie's story has really touched me), a 3 year old and a 10 month old. My sporting endeavours have taken a back seat since being a mummy so I have a long journey to get from a handful of 5 km runs to swim-bike-run superfit! Your support will not just be keeping me going on event day but moreso for the gruelling months ahead fitting training in around my family.

It is going to be tough, but what Ollie and his family are going through is unimaginably tougher and our support is needed. Please donate what you can. Lets help Ollie kick this cancer in to touch.

High Five Ollie.
