Story

We are taking part in RBC Race for the Kids to raise money for the GOSH charity.

Abigail has been looked after by the amazing heart failure, heart transplant and pulmonary hypertension teams at GOSH since 2nd July 2019.  Last year Abigail had a heart transplant at GOSH.  She spent seven weeks in intensive care (Flamingo ward) then another 3 weeks on Bear ward before making it home.  She has had another six hospital admissions since, but she is now steadily improving.  Abigail has regular follow up every few weeks with the transplant team at GOSH.

Pre-transplant, Abigail was too unwell to attend school regularly, and on the day of transplant we were going to go to our local children’s hospice, but came to GOSH instead.  The transplant has transformed Abigail’s quality of life.  She is back at school full time and can join in games with her friends.  None of this would be possible without our amazing donor family.  Please have a conversation about organ donation with your family.

Help GOSH to help more children like Abigail.
