Individuals with Aspergers syndrome/Autistic Spectrum Conditions (AS/ASCs) are known to be marginalised members of society, who suffer from anxiety related illnesses and depression at a higher rate than the rest of the population. The impact of this on family members can be equally debilitating. A therapeutic service with specialised knowledge to support the mental health and well-being of those with the disability can play a vital role in reducing anxiety related illness, improving self awareness, self understanding and self-esteem, which will increase their integration and promote economic and social opportunity. To add to this my youngest beautiful daughter was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome at later than normal at 18. She went through mainstream education doing exceptionally well. She is now still doing us very proud at Wrexham university doing art and illustration. Both myself and my hubby really knew nothing about Asperger's or autism I got angry at not knowing so armed myself with knowledge doing open university courses . My husband and I wanted to give something back so set up a group for parents and carers of adults and young people with autism spectrum disorders. So I would be very grateful for whatever we can raise for this very important to us cause. Please give what you can.
