Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 8th of September I will be walking 18 kilometres and David will be cycling 50 kilometres in aid of Shine Relief Trust.
I am fundraising for Shine Relief Trust because they do great work in one of the poorest parts of the world. Whilst volunteering for Shine I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand what an impact Shine's help is making in the lives of the children in Kunumanji, Malawi.
Malawi has recently got a new president, who has turned many things to the better and the future of the country is looking brigther than ever. However, these changes will not become reality for years to come yet. So this is our chance to help children in southern Malawi now and make sure they don't miss opportunities that life has to offer them.
Shine provides a meal every schoolday for over 400 children, which helps them attend school instead of looking for food. Shine also provides help to some child-headed families with house repairs, mattresses, mosquito nets etc.
Shine has acquired land to build a Shine Village. The concept will be very similar to SOS Children's Villages. Children will be brought up by a 'house mum' in their natural environment. While the feeding programme is able to continue with the current resources, putting up the first building on the land will require more funding - this is what I am fundraising for.
