What are we doing?
We are walking 1 million steps in the next 3 months for Dementia UK! 👣
Why are we doing it?
My Dad, Rob Whittaker, was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia in December 2021 aged only 65. It’s a rarer form or dementia and affects people at a much younger age. We have gone through a rollercoaster of emotions and spoken to many families who have gone, or are going through the same.
The hardest thing has been to watch such a rapid decline in a man who has always been so strong, so active, chatty and such a hard worker. Dad now can’t stand or walk unaided, barely talks and needs constant support to do daily activities. Thank goodness for our wonderful mum for all she does for him.
As always we try and focus on the positives and that is that we still have our Dad with us. He still knows us all, has his memories and his sense of humour.
So now we want to celebrate that. We want to raise awareness of the types of dementia and for the work of Dementia UK.
If you’d like to sponsor us we’d be so grateful!
