The National Brain Appeal has committed to raise £1.5m to create an acute interventional neuroradiology service for stroke at Queen Square. And we're three-quarters of the way to our target!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

From the 1st of June until the 30th of June my dad and i will climb the equivalent to the height of Mount Everest (29,029 ft /8,848 metres) over 30 days. That’s 133 flights of stairs per day and 51,870 individual stairs over all.

We are doing this in order to hopefully raise some money for The Stroke Appeal charity. My great grandad is currently in hospital due to a stroke in January and has been there for a while now. As he cannot have any visitors due to COVID-19, we thought we would do something to honour him, so he knows we are all thinking of him. Just like my great grandad, people who have the kindest hearts unfortunately do suffer and people all over the world get affected everyday due to strokes and although it isn’t something we can put a stop to, it could be something we could help so any donations at all would be very much appreciated.

Stroke’s are one of the UK’s leading causes of death. There are over 100,000 strokes in the UK every year and, 1 in 8 of these prove to be fatal within the first 30 days. As the UK’s population continues to age, strokes are expected to become an increasingly common condition.

The National Brain Appeal is currently seeking to raise £1.5million in order to create an acute interventional neuroradiology service for the treatment of stroke at Queen Square. This service will provide urgent care, as well as help support regional and national stroke treatment.
