The Little Black Dress Initiative · 11 February 2019

Created in 2014, the Little Black Dress Initiative ("LBDI") is a fundraising and awareness campaign where participants wear one black dress/outfit for 5 days while raising funds to fight against poverty, taking place 11-15 February 2019.

Story

The STAGGERING REALITY is 58% of Londoners in POVERTY live in a WORKING FAMILY!  Just think about that: even though someone is actively working the family can't break out of the cycle of poverty.  For the 3rd year running, I will wear the same black dress for 5 consecutive days to raise awareness about the effects of poverty on a woman's access to resources, professional opportunities, and negative impact on self-worth.  As it is my birthday during that week, I am foregoing any presents and asking instead for donations to my campaign.

Since its creation in London, LBDI has raised over £100,000 in London and the LBDI campaign has expanded to over 40 Junior League locations across the United States and Canada!  The positive impact of this global poverty initiative is a testament to Junior League's mission to promote voluntary service, develop the potential of women and improve our community through the effective action and leadership of volunteers.  Please support me in my fundraising efforts, I greatly appreciate it!  #teamLBDI
