LBDI BACKGROUND & HISTORY

The Little Black Dress Initiative , or "LBDI," is a week long, social-media driven advocacy campaign that uses the iconic "Little Black Dress" to raise awareness about poverty and support through donations the work of the Junior League of London in our local community.

Participants wear the same black dress/outfit for 5 consecutive days to illustrate the effects poverty can have on a woman's access to resources, her confidence and her professional opportunities.

Since its creation in 2014 in our London branch, the LBDI has raised over £100,000 in London and the initiative has expanded to over 40 Junior Leagues across the United States and Canada.

The positive impact of this global poverty initiative is a testament to Junior League's mission to promote voluntary service, develop the potential of women and improve our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." - Helen Keller
