Story
Hi everyone!
I have signed up to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats in September this year. This is by far the biggest challenge I have taken on yet and I'm not sure what I'll be able to do in the future to top it!
I've decided to raise money for OCD Action. This is a charity that offers extremely important support and help to those that suffer with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
OCD is a distressing psychological disorder which affects 1.2 million people in Briton. It usually starts in the teens and early twenties and sufferers often try to hide their syptoms from friends and family. This means that people battling with the disorder are often left feeling isolated and embarrased and put off from asking for help.
This is a disorder that I have become very familiar with recently as someone close to me was diagnosed with 'Pure O'
I never realised just how serious this disorder was until I was confronted, it's alarming.
Unfortunately OCD is usually overlooked and misunderstood which is why I want to take the oppurtunity to raise awareness and money to support this charity.
OCD Action offers support in a number of ways from forums and helplines to support groups. They have a team of volunteers, trustees and staff that are dedicated to making a real and lasting difference to those that are affected by OCD.
