Why are we doing this?
On New Year’s Day, Brooke Hunter, a close friend to us both, fell really ill which was later revealed to be dual kidney failure. It took quite a few nights and some amazing staff at Lancaster and Preston infirmaries, to make Brooke stable and then aware of the drastically changed life she had and has to unfortunately grow accustomed too. The severity of the situation has only really just sunk in for everyone as it all happened so quickly. They’re some great positives coming out of Brooke’s treatment at the moment. She is now back home and remotely dialysing. This is a huge step in her recovery and the progress she is making is astounding. She has gone from being given 2 weeks to live to being able to socialise and is hoping to go back to 6th form soon. There’s still a long road ahead as Brooke is now awaiting a transplant to be able to gain back her active and fun lifestyle dialysis free.
Kidney Care is a charity doing amazing work for families all over the country. As kidney failure is the second biggest killer in the country we feel it’s a cause worth raising money for and helping out in anyway we can.
We are going to be kayaking 25 miles from Preston to Lancaster to raise money for this amazing charity. We aim to finish at 4PM at the Water Witch Lancaster LA1 1SU, please join us there for drinks!
Please help us by donating anything you can! All proceeds will go directly to Kidney Care Uk.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
