Kieran's Ride for Trees
Kieran Hunt is raising money for TREE Fund-Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund

Story
The TREE Fund is an essential endowment that funds research and education in the fields of arboriculture and urban forestry. I am riding the 2023 Tour des Trees to support the TREE Fund’s important mission. Trees are critical green infrastructure that support the health and wellbeing of humans and the natural areas we live in, mitigating stormwater impacts, reducing heat in developed areas, improving air quality, and contributing to human mental health and wellbeing. Research and education supported by the TREE Fund also contributes to improving practices and technologies that make tree work safer and tree risk assessment better, improving the safety of tree care workers and the communities they serve. Please donate to my fundraiser to support trees, the people who steward them, and the communities who benefit from them. All donated funds go directly to the TREE Fund to support its critical mission.
The Tour des Trees is a 380+ mile, 5-day ride from Reno, NV to Half Moon Bay, CA by way of South Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Mountains. In addition to fundraising the required $3,700 to ride the Tour, I will be training regularly to be able to complete the ride. Cycling is not my main hobby, so training to ride this Tour will take a lot of effort! My pursuit of achieving my fundraising goal and being able to complete the tour is driven by my belief in the TREE Fund and the work it supports. I hope you will join me in supporting this worthy cause.
I entered the tree care industry in 2014 while finishing earning my bachelor’s degree. Working at the intersection between people and trees for the past 9 years has been incredibly rewarding and satisfying. I am grateful to be in the tree care industry, for my experience consulting in the field, working and planning distribution line clearance work, engaging with industry, and for my current role helping to build and support digital solutions for utility vegetation management at Asplundh – a company I’m proud to represent.
I was taught that gratitude is an action word. I am riding the 2023 Tour des Trees as a way to give back to this profession that has enriched my life and improved the lives of so many others. If you enjoy having trees and green spaces as part of the cities, towns, and neighborhoods you live, recreate, and travel in, or if you are passionate about urban forestry, arboriculture, and the research and education that support and advance these fields, please donate to my ride as part of your yearly charitable giving. All funds will go directly to the TREE Fund to advance these professions, and you will bring me one step closer to achieving my goal!
