Hi, 

We are Kirsten and Sofia, two nurses from Manchester who have been following the humanitarian crisis in the Yemen closely. We are going to be completing a 12 mile walk from Manchester City centre to Rochdale in order to raise money for the people of Yemen. 

Our Aim is to raise money to help aid The Worlds Worst Humanitarian Catastophe.

We realise this crisis doesnt have much coverage on the Media in the UK, therefore we have outlined the crisis in basics and urge everyone to research, share and donate. Every penny counts. 

What is Happening in Yemen?

Yemen is experiencing the worlds LARGEST Humanitarian crisis due to: 

• The Civil War  - This is a war that began in 2015 triggered by a forced political transition and is still ongoing. 

• The Famine - Food insecurity has been a significant problem even prior to the civil war, however the war played a vital role in ports and infrastructures used for food imports and aids - resulting in decreased food income and increased food prices. 24 million people in Yemen are in need of humanitarian assistant (12 million being children). 20 million are in food insecurity. These are just a few of the heartbreaking facts an figures.  As often as every 11 minutes and 54 seconds a child passes away. Almost two thirds of Yemenis (64.5%) don't know where their next meal is coming from.
  

• Outbreak of COVID-19 and Cholera - Yemen has been fighting a 4 year long battle with an outbreak of Cholera, there were 2.2 million cases of cholera alone in 2019, the fallen Health, water and sanitation systems increased the ability of the disease to spread, causing a rapid increase in death rates - the outbreak of COVID is now a threat to wipe Yemen off the map completely. 

This is a reality which we have been researching to help educate ourselves and urge everyone to do the same. As humans, we feel it is traumatising to learn what has been happening in Yemen since 2015 and it is vital to try and aid these helpless people and children in any way we can.
