Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Why am I doing this? And why Guide Dogs?
My Dad lost all his sight at 43 practically overnight, it changed his life, it changed our families lives. Coming to terms with any illness or disability is hard, especially if it impacts your work, your livelihood, your hobbies, your family, your confidence and self esteem. Every person and situation is different. He had to learn and relearn nearly everything he knew. Guide Dogs were instrumental in helping him, not only with a dog but how they worked with other service providers to ensure he was able to work again, that's what was important to him. He no longer has a dog, but has had at least 6 My Guide partnerships, mobility training and technology services support. As his needs changed, so did the support he needed.
I now work for the charity and we offer so much more than we did back then. We support children, families, parents and their friends, because we know of the impact sight loss can have on others as well.
I will be swimming 400 lengths (10k) as my challenge. I would be very grateful for any support you can give no matter how small 😊
