Story

Kyle Muir , Craig Sims , Shane Maher and Raymond Ionesi are friends that all work together at R&W Civil Engineering on the M27 Smart Motorway project.

Starting on the 27th of February

We have decided to push our limits walking the West highland way, taking a route up the west coast of Scotland starting just outside Glasgow, the route traditionally ends in Fort William. We will turn off before Fort William and start climbing the CMD route to the top of Ben Nevis the tallest mountain in the Uk and some 170km (106miles)from our start.

No stop-offs at 5-star hotels allowed we will wild camp and need to carry everything needed with us. With the weather always an uncertainty we need to try and achieve 20 miles per day.

Filming progress as we go, we aim to keep all the generous people that have donated updated with how it's going.

We hope to raise much-needed money for the neonatal unit.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides specialist care to sick term and pre-term (premature) newborn babies. The state-of-the-art facility is located at the Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton. This has 37 baby cots, 23 intensive/high dependency cots and 14 special care cots. It is one of the largest neonatal units in the country treating around 900 babies each year, from Southampton, Poole & Bournemouth, Chichester, Dorchester, Basingstoke, the Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester and the Channel Islands. Babies have survived as young as 23 weeks, with some of them only weighing 460g/1lb. Picture a baby smaller than the size of your hand. Imagine the skill needed to care for and treat something that size. Money raised could go towards new equipment, more resources for families, improvements to parent facilities or additional staff training. All of which could help to improve the unit even further, ensuring babies and families receive the best care possible.
