Story

After 3 miscarriages, we got news of our rainbow baby on boxing day 2015. Despite the pregnancy being in multiple 'at risk' categories and our lil Pip having a 1:5 chance of having Downes Syndrome, the pregnancy was going well.

At 32 weeks, Pip was showing healthy on his Tuesday scan. Nothing to worry about.

That Saturday, after about 8 hours of labor, our lil Pip stuck his foot out of his Mom's cervix and Kylo was born.

At 4lbs, Kylo was only in hospital for a month and he's now a healthy 4 year old. He was born 8 weeks early, against all odds. He doesn't appear to have Downes Syndrome, but he does need hearing aids.

Bliss representative's were in the SCBU at hospital. They were on hand to offer us support, a shoulder to cry on, advice for coping with a premature baby. Alongside the midwives, they helped prepare us for him being small... For him being 'behind' the other kids his age. They helped us understand what it is to have a child with two ages for the first years of their life - 'corrected' and 'actual'. They gave phone numbers to people who could help with breastfeeding and told us the best places to buy tiny nappies. Their support was available for long after we left hospital.

Kylo loves superheroes. Every day he dresses up as someone different.. Spiderman... Iron Man... Black Panther.... So now its time for him to become a hero to raise money to help Bliss, to give something back.

Kylo & his parents will do acts of kindness, learn new skills and get creative. We will take on missions, to be completed before he starts school in September. Mission description & photos will be posted on this page.

About Bliss: Every 5 minutes, a baby is admitted to neonatal care in the UK.Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. They rely on donations to fund their work, and without our help they won't be able to reach the 100,000 babies needing neonatal care each year.Your donation to my page will help Bliss to drive improvements in neonatal care, to ensure that the needs of babies are at the heart of policy and planning for the future, and to provide information and support to all families with a baby born premature or sick.

Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. We rely on donations to fund our work but with one baby admitted to neonatal care every five minutes we don’t have the resources to reach every baby who needs us. Your donation can help Bliss ensure every baby gets the best care.
