Story

Standing Committee of Tamil Speaking People founded in 1977, the oldest UK registered Tamil Charity. One of our fund-raising events is Tamil New Year Lunch and Lecture. We provide a platform for eminent speakers to share their thoughts and views with our guests to stimulate a lively discussion. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, as per last year we are conducting WEBINAR instead of a in person lunch programme. SCOTs aim is to uplift and empower the lives of under-privileged Tamil speaking people in Sri Lanka. Our recent Projects: Training English teachers in the Northern Province in association the British Council. Supporting Tuition Centres in Oorani, KKS, Jaffna and Trincomalee to uplift the students standards in Maths and Science subjects. Providing extra tuition classes for children in three Children homes in Vihara, Valachenai and Batticaloa. Supporting small cooperative societies in Pallai to develop and market Coconut Oil.
