Eddie's is an operating division of The Edmund Trust. We run several services that support people with a learning disability, and their families and carers. We want everyone to have the opportunity to achieve the things they want out of life.

Story

Dear Family and Friends,

With the big 40 rapidly approaching, I thought rather than presents I would ask for donations to a cause that is close to my heart.

As many of you know, Matt and I have been supported by the Cambridge Down Syndrome Support Group since Ada was born just over six years ago. In the early days, their support was invaluable - the listening ears, endless advice and of course the chance to play, chat and consume lots of coffee and cake! It goes without saying that we have made many life long friends along the way. When Ada was just 18 months old we took over running the group and over 4 years later we are still here (just). It has meant a lot to be able to offer the same support and advice to other new families . What many people don't realise is how much it has meant to me to be able to do that for others, and in a lot of ways it has allowed me to reflect and come to terms with what has at times been hard.

However, with Ada getting older, it is now time for us to move on from running the group. Football, birthday parties and life have finally taken over and so it is with some regret that we are passing on our responsibilities to other families.

So this is where you come in - if you are able to support the group by donating a small amount that will go a long way towards helping make things a little easier for the families taking over the group. Every little helps and all money donated to Eddie's through this page will go directly to the Cambridge Down Syndrome Support Group.

Having a small pot of funds in the bank makes a big difference. It means we can fund small events and workshops, plus offer taxis free of charge to families without transport wanting to attend the group for the first time.

Reaching my £400 target would mean more than any present you could buy and will go a long way towards keeping the group running for many years and families to come.

PS - You can find out more about our group on the Eddie's website here: http://www.eddies.org.uk/what-we-do/children-detail.asp?ItemID=26

Thank you!!
