Story

Hi! I’m Laura, I’m 24 years old and this year I am running the London Marathon for Crohn's and Colitis uk. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease while in my final year of collage and though there have been some very tough flares and lots of time spent in hospital - I am currently in remission!

I receive amazing care from the staff at Royal Berkshire Hospital where I receive biologics infusions every 8 weeks to keep on top of my disease and have found that an active lifestyle (especially running!) has done wonders for both my mental and physical health.

I struggled particularly while at university studying musical theatre, the physical demands of dancing every day were to tough on my body and lead to many hospitalisations - even spending Christmas Day on a gastro ward in 2017.  If you had told me back then that one day I would be healthy enough to even run 5k I would have never believed you. But here we are in 2022, I live and work in London and have just ran my second half marathon race in a time of 1:58! I am so excited to run London marathon this year, and even more excited to raise money for a charity that does so much for people like me all across the uk.

Please share this page and give what you can - thank you so much to all my friends and family who have supported me through my illness throughout the years and are now supporting me through the miles and miles pounding the pavement to get ready for this run. You’re all legends 🏃🏻‍♀️❤️

Crohn's & Colitis UK are the UK's leading charity for Crohn's and Colitis. Right now, an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. I am taking part in the 2022 TCS London Marathon to support Crohn's & Colitis UK, and your donation can help Crohn's & Colitis UK's mission to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research.
